Call for Abstracts

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Europe Regional Conference 2025 “Geosciences Drive the Energy Transition”,  a platform for researchers, practitioners, and educators to share their insights and advancements in the future of energy and geosciences. We invite submissions of original research papers, case studies, and innovative ideas that contribute to the knowledge and development of geosciences in the energy transition and beyond.

You are invited to submit abstracts for Europe Regional Conference 2025 on the following themes. The committee has a particular interest in presentations highlighting state-of-the-art concepts, methodologies and innovative ideas. They also seek case studies illustrating the successful implementation of new scientific techniques and technologies.

Themes for abstract submission include:

  • Advances in the energy transition: geothermal exploration and production
  • Advances in the energy transition: hydrogen storage and natural hydrogen
  • Advances in the energy Transition: CCUS
  • Advances in energy transition: critical minerals
  • Siliciclastic and carbonate reservoirs: analogues in Europe and North Africa
  • New and old petroleum system elements from regional to prospect scale
  • New approaches and techniques for modelling outcrops and subsurface
  • Thrust belts around Europe and North Africa
  • Rift and back-arc basins in Europe and North Africa
  • Salt tectonics and energy transition
  • History of geoenergy exploration and geosciences
  • Students and young professionals in the energy transition

 

Submission Guidelines:

  • If your abstract requires company approval, please start the process immediately
  • Abstracts should cover the objectives, procedures, results and conclusions of the research.
  • Abstract should be no longer than 1 A4 page or around 250-500 words in length including spaces and punctuation. The title, authors, and authors’ affiliations are not included in the character limit. 
  • Titles are required—they should be brief and state the topic.
  • Abstract titles should not include company names.
  • In keeping with the spirit of the conference, presenters must refrain from making subtle or blatant sales pitches including but not limited to: repeated use of product names, trade names, or pictures, or repeated use of company logo.
  • Evaluation and ranking of abstracts are based on relevance and timeliness of subject matter; usefulness of contribution to the advancement of knowledge, techniques, or practice; and overall clarity, organization, and presentation of ideas. The Technical Program Committee is seeking abstracts with direct application to industry.
  • All submissions will be peer-reviewed, and accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
  • Sessions will be determined from the abstracts submitted to each theme. Sub-themes may not directly correspond to sessions in the final program.
  • Posters will be presented in coffee breaks sessions. The poster booth will consist of one A0 size panel in Portrait mode.

Important: AAPG has no funding for speakers. Do not submit an abstract unless at least one author is certain to attend the convention. All session chairs, speakers, and poster presenters must register to attend the conference.
